{"id":945,"date":"2021-11-23T10:27:18","date_gmt":"2021-11-23T10:27:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ipswichepilepsy.org.uk\/?p=945"},"modified":"2021-11-23T10:27:18","modified_gmt":"2021-11-23T10:27:18","slug":"people-with-epilepsy-included-in-priority-group-6-for-covid-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ipswichepilepsy.org.uk\/?p=945","title":{"rendered":"People with epilepsy included in priority group 6 for Covid vaccine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Epilepsy Action have spoken directly with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) who have assured us that epilepsy is included in priority group 6 as defined by the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisations.<\/p>\n<p>The main risk groups identified by the Committee are as follow<\/p>\n<p>Chronic respiratory disease, including chronic obstructive<br \/>\npulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and severe asthma<br \/>\nChronic heart disease (and vascular disease)<br \/>\nChronic kidney disease<br \/>\nChronic liver disease<br \/>\nChronic neurological disease including epilepsy<br \/>\nDown\u2019s syndrome<br \/>\nSevere and profound learning disability<br \/>\nDiabetes<br \/>\nSolid organ, bone marrow and stem cell transplant recipients<br \/>\nPeople with specific cancers<br \/>\nImmunosuppression due to disease or treatment<br \/>\nAsplenia and splenic dysfunction<br \/>\nMorbid obesity<br \/>\nSevere mental illness.<br \/>\nOther groups at higher risk, including those who are in receipt of a carer\u2019s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if the carer falls ill, should also be offered vaccination alongside these<br \/>\nSource Epilepsy Action <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Epilepsy Action have spoken directly with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) who have assured us that epilepsy is included in priority group 6 as defined by the Joint Committee on Vaccinations and Immunisations.
